The support arm of our Stud Mounted Mantel Rod is a sturdy 3/4 inch steel rod which extends out from the mounting plate by 8 inches. The mantel support rod is thoroughly welded to a 1/4 inch thick mounting plate for fixing the mantel bracket to your studs.
